Carpio-Galicia fled the scene but was arrested in Augusta, Georgia, after driving all night and getting into an accident.

He was injured in the accident and taken to the hospital. Police in Georgia say they are working with authorities to get him back to New York.

Carpio-Galicia was arrested in January on charges of forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a minor. Authorities have not said whether the two crimes are related.

The girl’s mother did not want to appear on camera or give her name, but told News 12 that her daughter is in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center.
