Google would like to wish the residents of Galicia, Spain a happy Clitoris Day!

As reported in The Local, the townsfolk of As Pontes, Galicia, northwestern Spain, celebrates its annual Rapini Festival to honor the leafy green vegetable commonly marketed in the United States as broccoli rabe.
The greens have a pungent, bitter flavor served in variety of ways including frying, steaming and braising. It can also be used in soups or salads. The Rapini is a good source of vitamins A, C, and K, not to mention is rich in potassium, calcium, and iron.
Local coordinators were eager to promote the festival on the town’s website, happening on February 15 of next year, “Feria do grelo” as they call.
Much to the shock of the staff who discovered the error on Thursday, Monserrat García, spokeswoman for As Pontes town hall, explained to The Local, “Google translate recognized our Galician word grelo as Portuguese and translated into the Spanish clitoris.” Google Translate changed Feira do grelo (Rapini Festival) into Feria Clítoris (Clitoris Festival).
To add fuel to the fire, the website reads in Castilian Spanish: “The clitoris is one of the typical products of Galician cuisine. Since 1981, the festival has made the clitoris one of the star products of the local gastronomy. Since 1981, the festival has made the clitoris one of the star products of the local gastronomy.”
“It’s a very serious error on the part of Google and we are thinking about making an official complaint for Google to properly recognize the Galician language so this kind of thing doesn’t happen again,” she added.
Google did not recognize the writing on the website as Galician and instead translated the term from the Portuguese ‘grelo’ which is an archaic slang term for the clitoris.
