After concluding his second title-winning Spanish CEV Moto3 season with a double victory at Valencia, Fabio Quartararo returned to the circuit on Monday to start testing with reigning world champion’s Estrella Galicia Honda.

With title winner Alex Marquez and team-mate Alex Rins moving to Moto2, Emilio Alzamora has unsurprisingly promoted Quartararo from Estrella’s CEV team to race alongside fellow GP rookie Jorge Navarro.

While Navarro missed this week’s test in order to recover from a recent accident, Quartararo made his first laps as a world championship rider during the two day outing. The 15-year-old Frenchman, allowed to race the full 2015 season due to a recent rule change for underage CEV champions, completed 127 laps.

“These two days of testing at Valencia have been very productive,” Quartararo said. “The aim was mainly to get to know the crew and test the improvements Honda have made to our bike for the new season. I really liked riding with World Championship riders and seeing my level compared to them on track. The feeling overall has been very good”.

The Estrella team did not release any lap times.

Quartararo successfully defended his CEV title by winning nine of the eleven rounds this year. Navarro and Maria Herrera were the only other riders to win a race (one each).
