Spanish judge Pablo Ruz today gave Pescanova executives who have been imposed cautions of €158.5 million ten days to pay the fine, reports La Voz de Galicia.

The defendants will need to deposit the cautions by this deadline, or declare themselves insolvent, facing seizure of property.

Last week, the Spanish high court dismissed the appeal to repeal the cautions filed by Pescanova’s former chairman Manuel Fernandez de Sousa-Faro.

The judge said the appeal must be rejected, since the amount of the bail is not subject to “the vagueness of the number of defendants”, notwithstanding that the bail could be adjusted throughout the investigation.

In January, the judge imposed cautions of €158.5m each on Carlos Turci, Alfonso Garcia and Angel Gonzales, all them former executives of the seafood group.

The judge also upheld cautions for the same amount against Pescanova’s former chairman and managers Alfonso Paz-Andrade, Fernando Fernandez,  Robert Albert Williams, Antonio Taboas, Joaquin Viña, Alfredo Lopez and ICS Holding Limited.
