LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) –
A Limestone County murder suspect was denied youthful offender status Tuesday morning.

Police say Dora Ramirez lured her boyfriend, Andres Galicia, to meet her one night in 2005. Instead, investigators say her husband was there and shot Galicia twice in the head.

Ramirez was 19 at the time of the crime. Her husband fled to Mexico after the incident and is still wanted for murder.

During Tuesday’s hearing, the prosecution made the argument that this was a heinous crime and the victim might still be alive today if Ramirez hadn’t lured him away to be murdered.

The defense said that Ramirez has become a naturalized citizen since the incident and has four children. The defense also said she has been on a $75,000 bond since January 2006 and she has had no problems since then.

After a judge denied the youthful offender status, he set a trial date for Feb. 23.
