(ANSAmed) – MADRID – A university exchange program like Erasmus aimed at students in Galicia and Portugal has been agreed at a meeting in Baiona, in north-eastern Spain, by the president of the Galician government Alberto Nunez Feijoo and Emilio Gomez, who is in charge of the regional public institution of northern Portugal CCDRN.
Scholarships, which are also available for university professors, including 500 euros for a week across the border, provide 400 euros a month for students, for three-month-long exchanges, and will be funded with 300,000 euros for the next academic year.
The start of the university program, according to official sources quoted by the media, will be achieved thanks to the cooperation between Galicia and northern Portugal, in the euro region which promotes the first joint investment plan of the European Union.
The educational project, called ‘Iacobus’, follows the lines of European Erasmus and aims to develop cultural, scientific and pedagogic cooperation through mobility and exchanges of students, professors and administrative personnel of the universities of Santiago, La Coruna, Vigo, Oporto, di Minho, Tras Os Montes and Alto Duoro, The Portuguese Catholic university of Porto and the polytechnic institutes of Oporto, Viana Do Castelo, Braganca and Cavado and Ave. (ANSAmed).
