The regional governments of Extremadura and Galicia have filed a complaint against the Spanish government’s subsidies moratorium with the highest judicial body in Spain, the Constitutional Court.

The Royal Decree 11/2012 from 27 January 2012 suspended the pre-allocation process and incentives for new renewable energy projects.

Extremadura and Galicia commissioned a report to determine the suitability of the moratorium and found its impact on resolving the Spanish deficit would be limited.

As stated by media platform Europa Press, the report said that due to the decree being rushed through Parliament it made it unconstitutional.
