The canning firm Alfageme SA will be put out to tender on 20 December for less than EUR 1 million: Vilaxoán plant will be bid for EUR 500,000; Ribadumia plant for EUR 300,000; and the brand for EUR 100,000.

The requests set for proposals for this auction were published in the Official Journal of Galicia (DOG) and provide for separate bids for Vilaxoán plant, Ribadumia plant and for the brand, the spokesperson for CIG, Rosa Abuín, stated.

The administration receivers agreed with the unions on not selling any assets of either plants without maintaining the jobs and the industrial plan, said Miguel Cuña, CGT spokesperson.

“We are pleased that the sale can not be performed if two aspects we consider essential are not taken into account, such as jobs and an industrial plan, so it is what we have been advocating for the last three years,” the leader added, according to La Voz de Galicia.

The decision to put the factories out to tender separately arose from the delegates headed by the secretary general of the Federation of Food in Galicia, Francisco Vilar, the newspaper Faro de Vigo reported.

They justified their position in the interest of the two companies – Consorcio Conservero and Pescamar –, which opted for the competitive tendering organized by Xunta de Galicia in the industrial reactivation of the factories.

Vilar recalled that Pescamar guaranteed 75 jobs, which are suitable for one of the factories.

“For our part, we will try to convince Xunta Galicia to link the subsidies to the maintenance of the jobs of Alfageme workers. This would benefit all: the two companies that participated in the competitive tendering, the workers, the administration receivers and the Xunta,” he added.
