I would recommend a visit to the Abastos market to get an idea of the fabulous
range of local produce, then pop into one or two of those bars and order a
glass of ribeiro or albariño, if you like white wine, or ribeira sacra if
you fancy a red.

Survey the counter and you can choose from octopus, langoustines, mussels,
tasty little green peppers or spicy chorizo sausages. It’s all part of the
cultural experience in Santiago. And that’s just for starters.
