Friendster offers 56 multi-player online and social games.

Friendster recently announced its redesign as a social discovery and gaming platform that offers users a unique experience following its global launch in Manila last April.

MOL Global Pte Ltd group chief executive officer Ganesh Kumar Bangah, who owns Friendster, said the site aimed to increase its monthly active visitors worldwide to 10 million by end of this year.

“We currently have four million unique active visitors each month and we hope for greater turnout this year,” he said after the launch of Friendster Gets  Game On at The Apartment in KLCC here recently.

“The objective of this revamp is to highlight our new identity as a unique social gaming platform, which allows our visitors to play adventurous games with their virtual friends globally.

“This is the advanced way of engaging and making new friends while playing new games at the same time.”

During the media conference, Friendster unveiled its new features, design and games. Among the games are Boomz, Pearl Heroes, Dragon Call and Crystal Legacy.

Friendster’s games are free to players and for a more enhanced experience, Friendster’s in-game credits known as Friendster Coins can be purchased to unlock more game features.

The new platform also allows Facebook users to enjoy Friendster easily via the Facebook connect button.

At the same time, Friendster launched its locally-developed products Friendster Hotspots and Friendster iCafe.

Friendster Hotspots provide retail outlets with a free Wi-Fi infrastructure that is funded completely by advertising, while Friendster iCafe is a free cybercafe management system integrating operations and accounts for ease of owner administration.

Friendster Hotspots is available in many popular branded food and beverage outlets, including Starbucks, Old Town White Coffee, Kenny Rogers Roasters, Wendy’s, Krispy Kreme and Papa John’s.

There are  more than 350 retail outlets using Friendster hotspots nationwide, with an average of 1.5 million unique users a month. Seventy per cent of Friendster Hotspots users are mobile users.
