• A larceny was reported Monday at the construction site of a Sheetz convenience store on Rockford Street, according to city police department reports. Steel guard posts, including 60 that are 7 feet in the length and five of 5 feet — valued altogether at $3,375 — were removed.
• A break-in at a Mount Airy residence led to the theft of property valued at more than $1,000. The incident was discovered Saturday at the home of Dina Louise Galicia on Pittman Street. A DeWalt cordless drill and reciprocating saw, a Craftsman table saw, Xbox and Playstation gaming systems, a Werner ladder, a projector and various photographs and clothing items were taken. The loss totaled $1,100.
• The Goodwill store on Rockford Street was the scene of a larceny Monday, when two unknown females put various merchandise inside their purses and left the business without paying. A description of the items and their value was not listed.
• Property damage occurred Saturday to a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup owned by Joseph Dean Brock of Cook School Road, Pilot Mountain. An unknown male suspect scratched the paint on the driver’s-side door of the pickup while it was parked at the Lowe’s hardware store on South Andy Griffith Parkway and then left the scene in his vehicle. The damage was estimated at $600.
• Donnie Lee Danley, 39, of 1712 Pittman St., was taken into custody Friday on an outstanding order for arrest for concealment of merchandise. Danley was encountered by police during a civil disturbance at his home, with an investigation revealing him to be wanted on that violation filed on March 21. No other details were listed. Danley was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $2,500 secured bond and is to appear in District Court on April 23.
