全球數以百萬計民眾使用交友約會應用程式(App)，克服社交障礙、繁忙行程和害羞膽怯，追尋生命中的唯一。根據一項統計，2015年台灣最常下載的約會App是iPair。英國廣播公司(BBC)網站報導，根據行動數據分析公司AppAnnie獨家提供給BBC資料，全球50大App市場中，2015年兩個最夯的名字是Badoo和Tinder。Badoo推出將近10年後，在21個國家成為最夯約會App；Tinder則在18國成為下載次數最多的約會App，熱門程度直逼Badoo；另有11國下載其他App。不過Tinder和Badoo的稱霸範圍沒有延伸到東亞，東亞每個國家各有所好。在中國大陸，「陌陌」(Momo)一直想脫離原本是約會App的角色，希望轉型成為社群網站。而在南韓，與其他App相比，約會App在熱門排行榜上表現很差。報導中說明，這裡的約會App定義，是自己標榜是交友約會或主要用於這個目的的App，例如臉書(Facebook)或WhatsApp就不在比較行列，雖然很多人用它們來認識新朋友。
