Columbia County, GA (WJBF) – A man wanted on Attempted Murder charges in Spring Valley, New York was arrested after a Thursday morning crash in Columbia County.
At 7:18 a.m. Thursday morning, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crash involving injuries between 2 vehicles at the intersection of Appling Harlem Road and Interstate 20.
A black Toyota Corolla driven by 32-year-old Walter Emilio Carpio-Galicia reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way and turned in front of a white Ford Explorer.
When deputies arrived, there were 3 people injured and all 3 were transported to Doctors Hospital to treat their minor injuries. During the course of the accident investigation, it was discovered that Carpio-Galicia was a wanted subject from Spring Valley, New York for Attempted Murder on his 15-year-old step-daughter.

The teen had been stabbed several times. Columbia County deputies detained Carpio-Galicia at Doctors Hospital until he was treated and released. He is currently being held in the Columbia County Detention Center awaiting extradition from New York authorities.
