21 de enero de 2016, 10:27Madrid, Jan 21 (Prensa Latina) King Felipe VI will continue his meetings on Thursday with the political parties represented in the Congress of Deputies to probe their stance before the inauguration of the new president of the Spanish government.

On Wednesday, the King met with the leaders of Democracia y Libertad (Catalonian right wing), Izquierda Unida (IU) and En Marea (confluence of Podemos in Galicia), on the third day of a round of consultations in light of the probable scenario of a frustrated investiture of conservative President Mariano Rajoy.

Felipe VI will meet today with the spokespersons for Compromiso (Valencia) and En Común (Catalonia), which also participated in the general elections on December 20 in an alliance with Podemos, as well as the president of Ciudadanos, Albert Rivera.

The third day of talks brought together at the Palace of Zarzuela leaders willing to reject the reelection of Rajoy, the acting president of the Government and leader of the Popular Party (PP), who so far has failed to find support for his investiture.

Yesterday, IU lawmaker Alberto Garzón volunteered to act as a mediator between Podemos (center-left) and the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) to reach an agreement to prevent a new right-wing government.

After meeting with the King, Garzón expressed his willingness to facilitate a meeting between the leaders of PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, and Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, to solve the current political uncertainty.

He noted that his party will support the inauguration of any candidate who presents a left-wing program, thus preventing the investiture of a government led by the PP.
