January 13 (SeeNews) – Wind power company Gamesa SA (BME:GAM) on Tuesday confirmed it plans to add a third production line at its blade factory in As Somozas, the Galicia autonomous community, northwestern Spain.
The new line will allow the company to gradually hire an additional 100 employees over the course of the year, Ricardo Chocarro, CEO for EMEA, said as quoted in a company statement.
The particular complex, which currently employs 183 people, manufactures blades for Gamesa’s G114-2.0 MW and G114-2.5 MW turbines. The company noted that the order book for these models has grown to 2,200 MW since launch.
Currently the factory makes blades for a wind project in Cyprus and a development in Turkey.
In Galicia, Gamesa also has a gearbox repair facility in Sigueiro and a sales office in Santiago de Compostela.
