Former IBF featherweight champion Evgeny Gradovich (20-1-1) is in Spain with trainer Robert Garcia and trains for the fight next weekend (January 9) in Valencia against Mexican Jesus Galicia (13-8-1).
Gradovich’s team requested the fight as means to test out the super bantamweight division as he drops down in weight. A win is essential as he has been mentioned as a strong possibility to face recently re-crowned super bantamweight titlist Nonito Donaire in April.
The show is a Spanish-Russian co-promotion. Also included on the card is a clash between two lions as super lightweight Aslanbek ”Lion” Kozaev (26-2-1) takes on Renald ”Lion” Garrido (15-12-1) in a non title eight-rounder.
