Sports Society at Trade Unions Federation of Belarus marks anniversary

By Natalia Kuzmitskaya: The members of the association were congratulated on the 80th anniversary by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

“You have raised a lot of outstanding athletes, who represent our country in international competitions of the highest level. Belarusian Olympic hopes are also connected with the trade union athletes. The attention paid by the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus to the development of mass sports, attracting both adults and younger generation to a healthy lifestyle is also important”, said the President in his greeting.

The Sports Society of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus has become a real “source of of talents” for the national team of Belarus including such names as Alexander Medved, Sergei Koplyakov, Victoria Azarenka, Maxim Mirny.

In order to support promising children and adolescents the federation has established 26 scholarships to students of sports schools of trade unions. Special support is given to athletes, preparing for summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The main award, the honorary diploma of the Federation of Trade Unions Belarus was presented to Mozyr SDUSHOR rowing and canoeing school, represented by its director Vitaly Skriganov.

Today the sport clubs of the federation feature more than 2,000 experienced coaches, 115 sport schools and dozens of modern sport facilities and training centers, which reveal sport
