The Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy was punched in the face by a teenage
radical during a campaign event in his home region of Galicia yesterday.
The 60-year-old leader was knocked off balance and his glasses fell to the
ground but Mr Rajoy was unhurt. Photographs later showed him with a deep red
mark on the left side of his face.
A 17-year-old, named only as Andres de VF, was arrested and was expected to
appear in court today. He is a left-wing radical who has pledged support for
anti-fascist groups in posts on social media, according to Spanish media
