Mayor Walsh lights Chinatown tree

Mayor Marty Walsh stopped by Chinatown for the 20th anniversary Mayor’s Trolley Tour and Enchanted Tree Lighting on Dec. 6. The tree lighting was one of 16 Walsh participated in throughout Boston from Dec. 4 to Dec. 6.
Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus took pictures with children, while the Focal Educultural Ventures choir serenaded the crowd. Children received goody bags courtesy of sponsor Bank of America.

“We are fortunate in the City of Boston to have a community that celebrates its cultural diversity, but also comes together to unite behind common ideals — love of family, friends and community,” Walsh said. “The trolley tour and tree lightings are great ways to continue to foster the spirit of community and bring a little extra joy to people around the holiday season.”

A Boston Fire Department truck and Boston Police Department officers were at the event, along with elected officials Boston City Councilor for District 2 and City Council president Bill Linehan, City Councilor at-large Michelle Wu, state Rep. Donald Wong, state Rep. Aaron Michlewitz and City Councilor at-large elect Annissa Essaibi George.
