LAKE WORTH (CBS12) — Federal investigators took their probe of a deadly plane crash west of Lake Worth, to the next level on Thursday.

The National Transportation Safety Board said the plane wreckage is now at a secure indoor space in Ft. Pierce.

There, investigators are poring over every inch of the aircraft, and checking the plane’s maintenance records.

21-year old Banny Galicia was killed as she slept in her bedroom at Mar Mak Mobile Home Park.  Also killed was the plane’s pilot, prominent local engineer Dan Shalloway.

With the wreckage carted away, Galicia’s family sifted through the charred ruins of their home through the day.

Family members made some unexpected discoveries–  part of the plane’s landing gear and other pieces of the aircraft left behind in the rubble. A representative of the Federal Aviation Administration came to retrieve the items late in the afternoon.

All day family friends stopped to express sympathies to Banny’s father, Domingo Galicia, and his family.

“The family’s coping, and dealing with the tragic loss of their daughter,” said attorney Michael Pike, who along with Daniel Lustig, are now representing the Galicia family.

Pike and Lustig say they had done work for the family’s church, and hope to keep in close contact with federal agencies.

“Currently we’re launching a massive investigation, in connection with preserving the plane,” said Pike.

CBS12 reached out to construction company owner David Mackey, who state records show as president of the group owning the airplane.

Mackey, through an assistant, declined comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
