Former senior functionary of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) Shikha Jain also reached the city on Saturday, setting the stage for the UNESCO visit to Capitol Complex on Sunday.
“Both the team members visited the property ahead of the visit on Sunday.
Since the property is being considered for UNESCO heritage status, intensive knowledge and better understanding is needed”, sources said.

CHANDIGARH: With another member of the UNESCO team, Michel Richard of France reaching the city, the entire UNESCO team is here. Dominic Galicia of Philippines arrived on Friday. Sources said Michel is connected with the Le Corbusier Foundation and is the key person in this visit.

Former senior functionary of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) Shikha Jain also reached the city on Saturday, setting the stage for the UNESCO visit to Capitol Complex on Sunday. Both Dominic Galicia and Michel Richard visited the Capitol Complex property on Saturday . Dominic has been there a few times and Michel saw the property once, after his arrival in the city on Saturday afternoon.

“Both the team members visited the property ahead of the visit on Sunday. Since the property is being considered for UNESCO heritage status, intensive knowledge and better understanding is needed”, sources said.

Sunday is the most crucial day in this exercise, as all members will visit the property together in the morning. After that, the Chandigarh administration will deliver a presentation on the monument and future plans for its development. A series of meetings have been fixed between the UT administration and the guests on Sunday. As of now, authorities are not divulging much about the exercise.
