Lawyers: Trump Tower guards assaulted clients
Filed Under EN
Five human rights activists of Mexican decent are suing presidential candidate Donald Trump and his security detail following a violent altercation that occurred during a protest outside Trump’s campaign headquarters, the plaintiffs’ attorney Benjamin Dictor told Sputnik.
The suit says the group was taking aim at Trump because of his “unsubstantiated and inflammatory claims” at his presidential announcement that Mexico has been sending people to the U.S. who are “bringing drugs”. The scene turned chaotic when at least one member of Trump’s security team ripped signs out of the protesters’ hands.
Members of Trump’s security squad violently and unlawfully quashed Efrain Galicia’s public protest outside Trump Tower during The Donald’s campaign speech last Thursday, Galicia and four other Mexican activists charge in papers filed in Bronx Supreme Court.
Video footage captured by several news outlets and disseminated on television and on social media shows a security guard punching a protester in the face after the demonstrator approached the guard from behind in an attempt to retrieve his sign.
Along with their lawsuit, the plaintiffs are asking the judge to issue a restraining order so that they can peacefully protest without being attacked by Trump’s security team.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A group of Mexican immigrants is accusing security guards at Donald Trump’s Trump Tower of assaulting them and destroying their property, according to their lawyers.
Following the scuffle, Trump’s campaign said the security guard was “jumped from behind” and indicated it may file charges against the protesters.
