MANILA – Farm supplier Calata Corp. is suing its partner in the meat processing joint venture over alleged “anomalies” and “suspicious transactions.”
In a disclosure to the stock exchange on Tuesday, Calata said it is filing cases of syndicated estafa against the Galicia family, Patienthill Cold and Dry Storage Corporation.
Calata did not specify the alleged anomalous transactions of its partner, only saying that the board agreed to file charges “after several months of investigation on the anomalies and suspicious transactions.”
The firm said it has also coordinated and has asked assistance from the National Bureau of Investigation, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of Justice, and Bureau of Immigration.
In a separate disclosure, Calata said it received on Monday a complaint filed by the Galicia family and Patienthill seeking to annul a title to a property, recovery of possession, and damages.
Calata and the Galicia Family earlier formed a joint venture corporation named Brookfields Meat Inc. (BMI), 51 percent of which is owned by Calata.
Calata said that it currently has full control and possession over the operations and meat fabrication plant of BMI.
