Moto3 Quartararo And Navarro Undertake First Kilometres In German

Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders learn Sachsenring circuit on day one of German GP, with Fabio Quartararo fourth and Jorge Navarro twentieth.

The Sachsenring circuit opened its doors for the German Grand Prix today, with the Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders taking part in the first two free practice sessions for Sunday’s race.

During the morning session, Fabio Quartararo was second fastest with a lap of 1:27.666. He was just 6 tenths off Danny Kent –the quickest rider in the FP1. Jorge Navarro was fourteenth, on an asphalt surface which did not rise above 20ºC in temperature.

With conditions almost identically cool in the afternoon, the second session was a difficult one for the Estrella Galicia 0,0 riders. Quartararo had some technical problems, forcing him to return to the pits with a few minutes still remaining. Whilst he dropped positions before the end of FP2, his strong morning time placed him fourth on the combined timesheets. On the other side of the garage, Navarro suffered a light crash with five minutes to go, having clipped the grass at Turn 6. He escaped unhurt from the incident.

After a first day that served to obtain necessary data to further improve, the riders and their crews continue familiarising themselves with the German track in the third practice session tomorrow at 9am. The aim will be to set their Honda bikes up well for the afternoon qualifying session.
