Daniel “DJ” Casas, son of Roxanne Casas and Robert Galicia of Friendswood, will be studying Kinesiology at West Texas A M University. Mary “Amber” Rouen, daughter of Linda and Danny Rouen, also of Friendswood, will be attending San Jacinto College majoring in Geology.

Friendswood Knights of Columbus announce grant recipients

PRESS RELEASE

Mary Queen Council 8494 of the Knights of Columbus is please to announce its 2015-2016 Education Grant recipients.

Daniel “DJ” Casas, son of Roxanne Casas and Robert Galicia of Friendswood, will be studying Kinesiology at West Texas A M University.

Mary “Amber” Rouen, daughter of Linda and Danny Rouen, also of Friendswood, will be attending San Jacinto College majoring in Geology.

Each recipient, and their families, were honored at the KC Council’s Annual Awards Dinner and Social on June 25th at the Council’s hall in League City. As this year’s education grant recipients, the students were presented with a certificate of recognition that they will be receiving a $1,000 check to assist with their upcoming educational expenses.

Congratulations to both of these outstanding and well-deserving students.

Council 8494 established its Education Grant Fund in May, 2003 to provide a perpetual source of financial assistance for those deserving students in the community, who are seeking an undergraduate degree or similar education. Each grant applicant is sponsored by a member of Council 8494, and applications undergo a rigorous evaluation by members of the Education Grant Committee to determine those deserving students with the greatest financial need.

With more than 1.7 million members, the Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic lay organization. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, the community, families, and young people. Each year, the Knights of Columbus at all levels of the organization raises and distributes millions of dollars to charity and renders millions of hours of volunteer service.
