Considered to be the best rookie of the Formula 1 season so far, Sainz admitted that the atmosphere in the MotoGP paddock was more family-like than F1 and he was excited to be in the midst of the action, soaking up the atmosphere and tension of the grid: “The MotoGP paddock is very different to Formula 1 – here you feel more at home, it’s more friendly,” commented the young driver, who has not been to a circuit as a fan for several years. “I have been on the MotoGP grid before but it is many years ago now, when I was 8 or 9 years old, and I don’t remember it that well. To experience it again now that I am a little older has been interesting and fun.”

Sainz added that he never misses a MotoGP race and he is a passionate fan of the sport: “To me this is a special weekend. I have always loved motorcycles ever since I was small and I would spend every Sunday from 11am until 3pm glued to the television. Now I have had the chance to see them close up, all thanks to Estrella Galicia 0,0 and I am very excited to be here.”
