National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy has proposed that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allows the sale of up to 138,700 tonnes of Azeri Light oil, which was previously pumped from oil pipelines of public joint-stock company Ukrtransnafta, in favor of the Defense Ministry and Interior Ministry of Ukraine for it to be refined.
According to a draft cabinet resolution drawn up by Naftogaz Ukrainy, this oil is now stored in the reservoirs of Ukrtatnafta, Naftokhimik Prykarpattia, and Halychyna oil refinery.
It is planned that another 246,800 tonnes of oil will be returned to the production facilities of Ukrtransnafta (back to oil pipelines).
Ukrtransnafta is to send funds from the sale of 138,700 tonnes of Azeri Light oil at the market price to the special deposit account in a state bank and use them only under the permit of the supervisory board.
As reported, in summer 2014, a total of 628,400 tonnes of oil was pumped out of the Ukrtransnafta’s pipelines. Some 232,600 tonnes is stored in the reservoirs of Ukrtransnafta, 239,900 tonnes in public joint stock company Ukrtatnafta’s reservoirs, 101,900 tonnes in Naftokhimik Prykarpattia’s reservoirs and 46,700 tonnes in Halychyna oil refinery’s reservoirs.
