Scott Redding broke into the top ten for the first time in 2015 in Argentina but feels he may have better served by the hard option rear tyre.
The Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Honda rider opted for the extra-hard tyre used by race winner Valentino Rossi, but Redding feels the softer compound may have proved a wiser choice at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit.
Redding, who crossed the line in ninth place, said: “Hindsight suggests the hard might have been better when you look at [Cal] Crutchlow and [Marc] Marquez, but the important thing is I finished in the top 10 and gained more valuable experience,” said the British rider, who held off the hard-charging Maverick Vinales on the final lap.
“All I can say it was a better weekend than Qatar but not as good as Texas. I was behind [Yonny] Hernandez in the early laps when his bike caught fire and I was getting covered in oil.
“That disturbed my rhythm a little bit but I was struggling for front and rear grip,” he added.
“I ran the extra-hard rear tyre because Bridgestone said the hard was a big gamble and we knew the extra-hard would be good for the race distance.”
