The Carroll County Speech Contest sponsored by the Carroll County 4-H was held March 31. The first-place senior division winner was Kaitlyn Warner with a speech on the Holocaust. Second place in the senior division went to Andrew Galicia, who spoke about the freedom of education.
In the junior division, Makayla Mallott won first place with her speech on cotton. Jerry Carter was second, speaking about Teddy Roosevelt, and third place went to Brookelyn Swofford, who spoke on the history of bowling. Trophies and certificates were awarded with a cash prize of $100 for the senior first place and $50 for the junior first place.
