Orange Spain has announced that it will invest around EUR 17 million to expand its fibre-optic network to the northern city of La Coruna in Galicia. The aim is to bring FTTH services to around 100,000 households located in the historic city centre as well as areas such as Montealto, Adormideras, Zalaeta and Pescaderia. The deployment will create around 125 indirect jobs and the service will be commercially launched in some areas before the end of the year.

Orange, in partnership with Vodafone, intends to bring fibre broadband services to 3 million homes and businesses all over Spain by the end of the year and a total of 10 million by the end of 2016 if its takeover of Jazztel is approved.
