• Rotterdam — The Berlin board of health, according to the message received here, reported 36 cases of cholera in Germany during November. In Austria especially in Galicia, cholera is spreading. There were 844 cases reported during the first week of November in which period there were 331 deaths.
• The new high school question will be put before the public tonight at the big mass meeting which will be held in the district court room at the court house at 8 o’clock. Many local speakers will address the audience on the high school proposition and will tell of the needs as compared with other towns and with the equipment they have.
• Fred Clark today signed a contract to manage the Pirates, the Pittsburgh National League baseball team for 115. At the close of the season this year Clark visited in Ottawa on an automobile trip from Pittsburgh to his home at Winfield. He owns a large farm near Winfield.
• The nasty rain which had fallen at intervals for the last three days turned to snow late last night and by this morning had the ground covered with a white blanket. Owing to the high temperature today the snow which fell during the night soon melted and left the streets very sloppy.
