A slight improvement is observed in the situation of the raft polygons affected by the red tide toxin, announced the director of the Technological Institute for the Control of the Marine Environment (INTECMAR), Covadonga Salgado.
On Tuesday, the authority decided to open five mussel polygons through the remission of the red tide.
Of all the five open polygons, two are from Ria de Arousa (Ribeira C and Pobra H), two others are of Vigo (Cangas E and Redondela A) and one of Ares, Sada 1.
Salgado also said in Ribeira B and Vigo A negative results were obtained from the first analysis and the ban will be lifted as soon as a second favorable sampling is achieved, the newspaper Faro de Vigo informed.
Meanwhile, in the rest of Galicia there are now 29 open and 26 closed polygons.
According to the available data, in the Ria de Arousa there are 20 open and 6 closed polygons, which are Ribeira B, and Grove B, C1, C2, C3 and C4.
The polygons of the estuaries of Muros-Noia and Pontevedra are completely closed for mussel capture, and in Vigo there are seven open and six closed parks.
During a visit to INTECMAR facilities, the Secretary for Rural and Marine Affairs of the Xunta de Galicia, Rosa Quintana, praised the work performed by the technicians responsible for monitoring water quality of the fishery from which fish resources are caught.
“INTECMAR is a centre of international reference. When consumers purchase products through legal channels, they know it is likely to do so with maximum guarantees,” she stressed.
