MENDEZ-ÑUNEZ, Cavite – Police eyed vengeance as the motive of the recent fatal shooting of a casino employee inside a passenger jeepney on J. P. Rizal Street in Barangay Galicia III, this upland municipality.

Albert Santos Ching, 52, and one Jasmin Ricablangka Paunil, 25, another jeepney passenger, were allegedly shot by three men who fled after the attack.

Senior Inspector Charles Daven Capagcuan, Mendez-Nuñez police chief, said that initial investigation revealed that Ching was the target of the assailants.

Ching was with his 11-year-old child when he was shot by the gunman in the head, said Capagcuan. He died on the spot.

Paunil, who was also a passenger of Indang-Tagaytay jeepney (DXG 790), was declared dead on arrival at Ospital ng Tagaytay (Tagaytay General Hospital). She also sustained a bullet wound in the head.

In an interview, Capagcuan said Ching was first shot by the still unidentified gunman in the jeepney.

Ching, a resident of 52 Alegre Street, Barangay Galicia III, was an employee of a casino based in Tagaytay, while a Paunil, a housewife, was a resident of 4122 Dama de Noche Street, Barangay Mahabang Kahoy Cerca, Indang, Cavite.

Paunil was also on her way home when the tragedy happened at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, it was learned. (Anthony Giron)
