BALANGA CITY, Bataan- The Philippine Army will deploy 120 more Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Bataan to further ensure the existing stability of peace and order in the industrial province.

This was agreed upon by Lt. Col. Gilmar Galicia, Commanding Officer of the 3,000-strong CAFGU and Army soldiers, and Gov. Abet S. Garcia during their meeting held at the Governor’s Office in Bulwagan, Balanga City on Monday morning.

The additional CAFGU personnel will be detailed along the Circumferential Road, coastal and forested areas of Bataan to help the police maintain peace and order and at the same time protect the remaining forested areas of Bataan.

“I want that the Circumferential Road will always be free from traffic hazards and that the smooth flow of traffic is always maintained,” Gov. Garcia told Col. Galicia.

Col. Galicia, assured the governor that his men will not only run after insurgents, if any, but also help in protecting the forested mountains and coastal areas of Bataan.

The CAFGUs play a major role also not only in the campaign against illegal logging but also in preserving the coastal areas since they have already started propagating coral reefs along the waters off Bagac town, a laudable job undertaken by Col. Galician and his men.

“This (coral reef) is one way of attraction to the coming APEC meeting to be held here,” said Col. Galicia.

In turn, Gov. Garcia also assured financial support to the deployment and operation of the CAFGU, noting that these personnel will work for the interest of Bataan particularly in peace and order.
