Ferrovial Services has won a €146m (£113m) contract to deliver a range of non-medical services at the 852-bed Ourense University Hospital Complex in Galicia, Spain.

The company will provide energy, maintenance, cleaning and security services at the complex’s three hospitals for 15 years.

In the area of energy efficiency, the company will upgrade the facilities to optimise performance, at no cost to the administration. Primary energy consumption will be reduced by over 15%, while CO2 emissions will be cut by more than 53%. Ferrovial Services will also implement quality indicators for the services and supplies and will report regularly on attainment of the targets.

“This contract strengthens Ferrovial Services’ position in the hospital management area,” said Ignacio Gastón, general manager of Ferrovial Services Spain. The company is currently expanding and upgrading the Valdecilla Hospital in Santander and delivering non-medical services there under a 20-year contract. It is also in charge of maintenance of the La Paz hospital in Madrid and Virgen del Rocío hospital in Seville.
