Ferrovial subsidiary Ferrovial Services has won a contract at the Ourense University Hospital Complex in Galicia, north-west Spain, worth $195m.
The company will provide energy, maintenance, cleaning and security services at the three hospitals for 15 years.
Ferrovial will upgrade hospital facilities to optimise energy performance and will reduce primary energy consumption by 15% and carbon dioxide emissions by 53%. Ferrovial Services will also implement quality indicators for the services and supplies and will report regularly on the attainment of the targets.
Ignacio Gastón, general manager of Ferrovial Services Spain, has said that the contract “strengthens Ferrovial Services’ position in the hospital management area”.
The company is expanding and upgrading the Valdecilla Hospital in Santander and delivering non-medical services there under a 20-year contract. It is also in charge of maintenance of the La Paz hospital in Madrid and Virgen del Rocío hospital in Seville.
Ferrovial has recently won a contract to build a 15km section of expressway in Poland worth $151m.
