League two Spanish football side CD Lugo have punted for an eye-catching new design for this season’s new football kit  — depicting a torso-sized glass of beer.

On the head: The beer-inspired kit, left; and right, the strange tentacle design

Lugo, who finished in 12th place last season in the Spanish second division, are sponsored by local brewers Estrella Galicia.

As a result, one of the new shirts has been designed to be reminiscent of the popular brew.

The other has a stylised octopus tentacle stretched across it, paying homage to one of the most popular ingredients in the Galician regional cuisine, where the city is located.

CD Lugo are not the only Spanish club taking such a novel approach to kit design, reports the Daily Mirror.

Last season, third division outfit La Hoya Lorca dedicated their strip to one of the principle exports of the Murcia region in which they are based: broccoli.
