Estrella Galicia’s Alex Marquez was unable to topple Jack Miller from the top of the Moto3 times at the second Jerez test, but the Repsol rider placed more importance on his consistency in Spain.

Marquez finished second fastest and only 0.033s behind Miller with a time of 1m 46.359s on the combined times over the three days.

The young Spaniard said: “At the end of yesterday we had already found our way forward and what we had to work on during the final day. Today I was motivated and convinced that we could improve on the aspects that we’d found difficult.

“We have been consistent and that is the most important thing, rather than setting a fast lap. I think we are ready to Qatar,” he added. “There is still work to do, but we are in good shape. It has been a difficult pre-season, developing a new bike with the support of Honda.

“They have come through with bringing us new parts, which have allowed us to improve and, in the end, this last day has been very positive. We head to Qatar very motivated and eager to do well.”

Fellow Repsol rider Alex Rins was tenth quickest, 0.368s off the top spot.
