Havana, Cuba, Jan 23.- Cuba was officially declared on Thursday as a Guest Country of the 15th International Gastronomy and Tourism Fair, Xantar 2014, to be held on February 5-9 in the Spanish city of Orense, Galicia.
The Prensa Latina news agency informed from Madrid that the island will be present at Xantar with expressions of gastronomy, tourism and craftsmanship.
The ceremony, held at the Galicia pavilion of the 34th International Tourism Fair (FITUR), was presided over by Cuban Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero, and by Cuban ambassador to Spain, Eugenio Martinez.
Participating in the meeting, organized by Expourense, a foundation of fairs and exhibitions of Orense, were the director of Tourism and the general secretary of Emigration of Galicia, Nava Castro and Antonio Rodriguez, respectively, and the director of Xantar, Alejandro Rubin, among others.
Cuba’s participation as guest country emerged from the cooperation that exists between Cuba’s Tourism Ministry and Expourense, with the intermediation of the Secretariat of Emigration of the Galician government.(ACN)
