Madrid, Jan 10.- Cuba’s participation as a guest country at Xantar, the international gastronomy and tourism fair in Galicia, is arousing a great deal of public and business interest, authorities from that Spanish autonomous community stated today.
The presence of experts from that Caribbean country corresponds with their deep ties with Galicia, where the relationship comes from family bonds, according to the Emigration Secretary for Xunta, (the regional government), Antonio Rodriguez.
In statements to Prensa Latina, Rodriguez said Xunta had offered the invitation, which was immediately received by the Cuban side, as an expression of the re-launching of ties between Cuba and Galicia.
At the end of the preparatory meeting with Cuba’s Consul General Jose Antonio Solana, the official stated that those ties had a considerable boost after the visit to Cuba of Xunta’s President Alberto Nuñez in December.
“Now we are trying to use opportunities as that of Xantar to favor the presence of official entities and also a Cuban-Galician organization such as the Havana’s Rosalia de Castro Cultural Society, representing a restaurant,” he said.
Meanwhile, the manager director of Expourense, venue of the exhibition, and Xantar’s director, Alejandro Rubin, stated that the perspective of the Cuban presence was received with interest by businesspeople and the population, in view of the nature of existing bonds. (Prensa Latina)
