A Bluffton woman and her boyfriend have been missing since Sunday, and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is calling the disappearance “suspicious.”

Margarito Elena Gonzalez-Almazan, 47, and Osman Galicia-Escobedo, 40, were last seen about 3 a.m. Sunday after a family party she hosted at the Shady Glen community center, according to a news release Tuesday.

Relatives told deputies the two had argued several times in recent weeks and that Galicia-Escobedo sometimes becomes aggressive when he drinks, the release said.

Relatives became concerned when they were unable to reach Gonzalez-Almazan by phone and learned Galicia-Escobedo had not returned to his Simmons Cay apartment in Bluffton since Saturday night, the release said.

Relatives reported the disappearance to the Sheriff’s Office shortly before 8 p.m. Monday. Deputies consider Gonzalez-Almazan missing and endangered because of the suspicious circumstances, the release said.

Gonzalez-Almazan is about 5-foot-2, 130 pounds, with shoulder-length, black hair. She was last seen wearing a green blouse, white pants and a black, bomber-style jacket with white lining.

Deputies want to question Galicia-Escobedo, who drives a gray 2001 four-door Dodge Stratus with S.C. license plate DMR 686. His car has not been found, the release said.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of either Gonzalez-Almazan or Galicia-Escobedo can call Cpl. B. Cooler at 843-255-3423, Capt. B. Bromage at 843-816-8013, Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC (274-6372), or text the word TIPSC with a message to CRIMES (274637).
