The Beaufort County Sheriffs Office is investigating the suspicious disappearance of a Bluffton woman and her boyfriend.
Margarito Elena Gonzalez-Almazan, 47, was reported missing by relatives just before 8 p.m. Monday, according to a news release. Gonzalez-Almazan was last seen about 3 a.m. Sunday at the end of a family party she had hosted at the Shady Glen Community Center in Bluffton.
Relatives told deputies that Gonzalez-Almazan was last seen with her boyfriend, Osman Galicia-Escobedo, 40. Galicia-Escobedo was with Gonzalez-Almazan at the party and at her home on Shady Glen Circle when the last guests departed, the release said.
Relatives told deputies they witnessed several arguments between the two in recent weeks, and Galicia-Escobedo had a tendency to become aggressive when drinking, the release said.
Family members contacted deputies after they were unable to locate Gonzalez-Almazan on Sunday.
When family members checked Galicia-Escobedos residence at Simmons Cay apartments in Bluffton, his roommates said he had not returned since leaving Saturday evening.
Galicia-Escobedo drives a gray 2001 four-door Dodge Stratus, with S.C. license plate DMR 686. Gonzalez-Almazan is being considered a missing and endangered person as the circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious, the release said. Galicia-Escobedo is being sought for questioning, as the last known person to have contact with Gonzalez-Almazan.
Gonzalez-Almazan is Hispanic, 130 pounds, about 5 feet 6 inches, with shoulder-length black hair. She was last seen wearing a green blouse, white pants and a black bomber-style jacket with white lining.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Gonzalez-Almazan or Galicia-Escobedo can call Cpl. B. Cooler at 843-255-3423, Capt. B. Bromage at 843-816-8013, or Crime Stoppers.
