Readers of Spain’s 20 minutos newspaper have cast their ballots for the country’s top stretch of sand.
Number one for the second year running — with 26,826 votes — is the stunning Grande de Miño beach in Galicia, near La Coruña in Spain’s rugged north-west.
“The beach is accessible, clean and safe,” Miño’s proud mayor Jesús Veiga told 20 minutos.
“You couldn’t down here if you wanted to.”

The runner up in the poll is also a Galician beach: Carnota was the favourite of 24,625 readers of the free daily.
In third place is Bolonia beach, in Andalusia’s Tarifa province.
The top six is rounded out by the beach of Zahara de los Atunes — also in Andalusia — Calblanque beach in the region of Murcia, and North Beach in Valencia’s Gandía.
Galicia’s beaches have consistently notched up strong results in the 20 minutos annual beachgoers survey.
A beach in this region has been named the country’s best for five consecutive years.
The Grande de Miño beach took the prize in 2009, 2010 and 2011 while Rodas beach in the Cíes Islands nabbed the award in 2012.
“This (competition) is like football: it’s not easy to stay at the top but we will fight for it,” said Miño mayor Veiga of the region’s dominance among beach lovers.
