Rosalia Mera Goyenechea, 69, has passed away according to Spanish media reports. Rosalia Mera was most known for being the richest woman in Spain and the co-founder of clothing brand Zara.

According to local media reports, Rosalia Mera suffered a stroke while vacationing on the Mediterranean island of Menorca. She died at 8:30 pm local time in the private San Rafael Hospital in La Coruna after being transferred from a hospital in Menorca.

“The group wishes to send its sincere condolences to [Mera’s] loved ones and friends at this extremely difficult time, after the loss of a person who contributed so much to the origins and development of the company,” said Zara’s parent company, Inditex, in a statement.

Rosalia Mera’s net worth, according to Forbes, was $6.1 billion as of March 2013.

6. Rosalia Mera Goyenechea co-founded the Paideia Galiza Foundation, based in La Coruna, in 1986. The organization aims to assist those with physical and mental disabilities to find jobs and to provide training and education workshps.
