Prof. Zeev ben-Haim, second president of the Academy of Hebrew Language and founder of its historic dictionary project, died on Tuesday aged 106.
Ben-Haim, an Israel Prize laureate, was born in Galicia, immigrated to Palestine in 1931 and studied in the Judaism Institute of the Hebrew University. He is considered one of the greatest Hebrew linguists and an important researcher of Hebrew and Aramaic. His specialty was the Samaritans use of the two languages. Ben-Haim first joined the Academy in 1953, and was one of its first members. (Shahar Chai)
