The Cabreiroa Pantin Classic Pro got back underway in Galicia, Spain, on Saturday, September 15, 2012. The surfers were blessed with offshore winds, brilliant skies and waves in the four to five foot range. Here’s a brief look at some of the early results:
Women’s Round 24 Results
Round 24 of the women’s competition was completed on Friday afternoon. The highest surf heat score of Round 24 was captured by Pauline Ado (FRA) during her Heat 4 matchup against Anali Gomez (PER), Nage Melamed (HAW) and Alizee Arnaud (FRA). She won the surf heat with 16.43 points. Her best waves were an 8.60 point ride and a 7.83 point ride.
Women’s Round 12 Results
Round 12 of the women’s competition kicked off on Saturday morning with a surf heat between Nikki Van Dijk (AUS), Sofia Mulanovich (PER) and Sage Erickson (USA). Sage Erickson managed to fire off a 7.83 point ride and a 6.83 point ride. She won the surf heat with 14.66 points. She is expected to surf against Alana Blanchard (HAW) in the quarterfinals.
Heat 2 featured surfers Alana Blanchard (HAW), Bianca Buitendag (ZAF) and Jacqueline Silva (BRA). Bianca Buitendag won the surf heat with 12.34 points. Her best waves were a 5.57 point ride and a 6.77 point ride. She is anticipated to surf against Nikki Van Dijk (AUS) in the quarterfinals.
Heat 3 featured surfers Pauline Ado (FRA), Justine Dupont (FRA) and Rebecca Woods (AUS). Pauline Ado started out strong. She fired off an 8.17 point ride and took an early lead. She held onto the lead for most of the surf heat. Then, with less than 5 minutes left to go in the surf heat, Rebecca Woods delivered a beautiful 6.17 point ride. It was enough to knock Pauline Ado out of 1st place. In the end, Rebecca Woods won the surf heat with 12.84 points. She is slated to surf against Felicity Palmateer (AUS) in the quarterfinals.
Heat 4 featured surfers Alizee Arnaud (FRA), Philippa Anderson (AUS) and Felicity Palmateer (AUS). Alizee Arnaud was in fine form on Saturday. She opened up the surf heat with a 4.17 point ride and an 8.07 point ride. It was enough to put her into the lead. Later on in the heat, she backed those scores up with a 6.33 point ride and a 7.13 point ride. If you ask me, her bottom turns and snaps were powerful. She won the heat with 15.20 points. Alizee Arnaud is expected to surf in the quarterfinals against Pauline Ado (FRA).
What’s Next?
The Cabreiroa Pantin Classic Pro is scheduled to end on Sunday, September 16, 2012. However, the women’s final is expected to take place on Saturday afternoon. Surf fans that would like to watch all the surf action should stay tuned to the event’s website.
