The Cabreiroa Pantin Classic Pro resumed on Friday, September 14, 2012 in Galicia, Spain. Mother Nature graced the surfers with warm sunshine and waves in the two to three foot range. Many surf heats were completed. Here’s a quick rundown on some of the latest results:
Men’s Round 64 Results
Round 64 of the men’s surfing competition was completed on Friday. The highest surf heat score of the round was earned by Ty Watson (AUS) during his Heat 10 matchup between Krystian Kymerson (BRA), Alexandre Chacon (BRA) and David Van Zyl (ZAF). Ty Watson won the surf heat with 14.50 points. His best waves were a 6.83 point ride and a 7.67 point ride. He is expected to surf again in Round 32, Heat 5.
Women’s Round 24 Results
The women’s surfing competition continued on Friday afternoon with Round 24. The round opened up with a real nail biter between Georgia Fish (AUS), Bianca Buitendag (ZAF), Nikki Van Dijk (AUS) and Maud Le Car (FRA). Nikki Van Dijk barely won the surf heat with 11.70 points. Her best waves were a 6.27 point ride and a 5.43 point ride. Bianca Buitendag completed the surf heat with 11.10 points. Both women are expected to surf again in Round 12.
Heat 2 featured surfers Sofia Mulanovich (PER), Jacqueline Silva (BRA), Mikaela Greene (AUS) and Joanne Defay (FRA). Sofia Mulanovich was on fire throughout the heat. She opened up the surf heat with a 6.67 point ride and an 8.33 point ride. I thought that she appeared quite confident and skillful. She won the surf heat with 15.26 points. Sofia Mulanovich is slated to surf again in Round 12, Heat 1 against Sage Erickson (USA) and Nikki Van Dijk (AUS).
Heat 3 featured surfers Sage Erickson (USA), Alana Blanchard (HAW), Alessa Quizon (HAW) and Dominic Barona (ECU). Alana Blanchard looked great. If you ask me, her snaps were consistently clean and powerful. Her best waves were a 5.67 point ride and a 6.33 point ride. She won the surf heat with 12 points. Alana Blanchard is anticipated to surf again in Round 12, Heat 2 against Bianca Buitendag (ZAF) and Jacqueline Silva (BRA).
