Twenty-one Bulgarian sailors and their captain were busted with 3 tons of cocaine onboard the Saint Nikolai Ship by a Spanish special operations squad some 50 nautical miles off the Cadis town.
The cops raided the ship the very moment the packed in 108 bundles cocaine was being transferred to another ship.
The operation, codenamed Espartana, was launched after a signal of the Bulgarian police.
Reportedly, the cargo was being shipped to Galicia from South America.
Bourgas businessman Doychin Doychev owns the busted ship.
Police sources told the Standart he had taken a huge loan from drug kingpin Brendo to settle old debts, and the cocaine shipped onboard his vessel was meant to pay off this loan in kind.
