PRESS RELEASE
The Wahrld Pro Junior, second to last event on the European Junior schedule will start Thursday, August 2 in A Coruna, Galicia – SPAIN. A 2-Star for the Men’s and 1-Star for the Women’s, this event will play an important role in the crowning of this year’s European Junior Champions.
The beautiful beaches of Playa de Orzan and Playa de Razo, prepare to host for the first time the Wahrld Pro Junior, and see more than 120 of the best European competitors invade the line-up for a four-day waiting period. With an encouraging forecast showing signs of a consistent swell activity in the 5-7Ft range, this event will for sure deliver high-quality surfing and entertainment for the Galician crowds.
After last week’s event in Sopelana, the rankings lead have changed hands and with only two more events, potential winners of the European Title are now known. In the Men’s division, Vasco Ribeiro (PRT) and Vicente Romero (ESP) are head-to-head in the race and each one of them could very well be crowned this week in Galicia if the following happens:
– Vasco Ribeiro needs to finish 3rd or higher and ahead of Vicente Romero to win the Pro Junior Title.
– Romero needs to Win the Wahrld event and for Ribeiro to finish 3rd or worse to Win the Title.
Ramzi Boukhiam (MAR) and Frederico Morais (PRT) are still in contention for the European crown but their scenarios are a lot less likely to happen, considering they would need Ribeiro and Romero to lose in the first Round of competition this week in Galicia.
In the Women’s division, it is Cannelle Bulard (REU) and Maud Le Car (FRA) that will battle it out in Galicia for their maiden Regional Title. Cannelle Bulard sits on a very slim advantage and will need another strong performance in Galicia to ensure the Title will be hers. One scenario is as follow:
– If Bulard makes the final, then Le Car needs to win and Bulard be 4th to keep the title race alive.
