Sailors from 27 countries competed at the MacLaren Laser 4.7 Youth World Championship sponsored by Galicia Eminent with beautiful races, sunhine and a variety of wind conditions on the Río de la Plata.

The girl’s fleet got away first on the final day with Spanish sailors dominating the score board and taking the first three places. Martina Reino Cacho took the bullet, second was María Cabrera Pérez and third Natalia Ariza Sánchez Barriga. In the last race of the championship, the first sailor to cross the line was Zeynep Yentur from Turkey who led the race from start to finish, followed by Celine Therese Herud (NOR) and María Cabrera Pérez (ESP).

1. María Carolina Knudsen Boabaid (BRA)

In the boy’s event the Spanish sailors also did a great job on the final day with Nahuel Rodríguez Pérez winning both of the last two races of this championship and securing the silver medal overall. Benjamin Vadnai (HUN) continued his dominant performance to finish second and seventh in the last two races and finish on top of the leaderboard 15 points clear. Maximilian Kuester (ITA) finished third in race eleven with Joel Rodríguez Pérez (ESP) finiishing second in race twelve ahead of Bora Olcav (Turkey).

The silver fleet was the last to start racing. Christian Guldberg Rost from Denmark won races 11 and 12. The second to cross the line in the race 11 was Hiroki Sato (JPN) and the third one Sócrates Fernández (ESP). In the last race, the sailors that arrived after Christian were Freddie Vergburt (GBR) and Manuel Pellejero (ARG).
